'Route map' to help workers and employers manage workplace transport risk

A public HSE-hosted event is due to take place on 11th July in Edinburgh to provide a forum for those who wish to debate the content of the proposed new 'route map', an on-line tool aimed at helping employers and workers manage workplace transport risk by providing a framework of current law with links to existing guidance, filling any gaps with new guidance.

The route map will follow best practice, offer explanations of how to meet legal responsibilities, including setting out alternative ways to comply where these exist, focussing specifically on:
site layout and design;
vehicle selection and maintenance;
personnel matters; and
management responsibilities.

The event will take place on 11th July 2006 at Thistle Hotel Edinburgh, 107 Leith Street, Edinburgh, Lothian. EH1 3SW at 10am.

To book contact HSE's Workplace Transport Team on 020 7717 6059/6840/6366 or mailto:workplace.transport@hse.gsi.gov.uk.
A public consultation exercise on the proposals runs until 22nd September 2006, see
